Amigum™

Sclerotium rolfsii is a fungal pathogen that has a wide host range. This filamentous fungus produces a large amount of white cottony aerial mycelium. Its fermentation yields scleroglucan, a stable polysaccharide of glucose monomers (MM 5-6 million Daltons). Amigum™ is a unique gelling agent with thickening properties that is stable under extreme physical and chemical conditions, but also has limited interactions with other molecules due to its non-ionic molecules. Amigum™ increases formulation viscosity, stabilizes emulsions as well as suspensions, and its structure prevents aggregation and thus promotes solubility. It has also demonstrated biological properties, leaving the skin feeling hydrated and soft. Amigum™ is also very useful in formulations containing actives known to be difficult to stabilize.
