Description
Clays are formed as a result of the decomposition of rocks by erosion. They differ according to the type of rock from which they come, the climate or the topography of the soil. They are classified by chemical structure (illite, kaolinite, montmorillonite, etc.) and color.
White clay of the kaolinite type is obtained from quarries in Brittany. It consists mainly of aluminum and silicon. This kaolinite-type clay is white in color because it is heavily washed by rainwater, which removes some of the pigments. White clay is ideal for sensitive skin. It can also be a mineral filler, for example, in natural cosmetics.
