The homeland of Camus Camus is the tropical forests of South America, it grows in swamps and wetlands, near rivers and Amazonian lakes in Peru, Brazil, Venezuela and even Colombia. It can live for several months with its trunk submerged in water. Camus Camus fruits are traditionally harvested from canoes as they ripen during the rainy season when the land is flooded. Camus Camus has been considered a symbol of strength and health by South American tribes since time immemorial. The fruits are eaten before hunting because of their stimulating effect. Before they were recognized as a major source of vitamin C, camu camu berries were also used as fishing bait. Still often misunderstood in the West, this fruit is a superfruit thanks to its high vitamin C content.
