Description
Gall oak: Gall oaks are sturdy small trees commonly found in the Mediterranean, Asia, and Asia Minor (Syria, Iran, Lebanon). Galls are spherical outgrowths that form on the leaves of some plants after insect bites. Gall is a nest of larvae that allows them to develop. They are called "gall nuts", which reflects their nut-like shape. Gall nuts have been known and collected since ancient times for their medicinal and dyeing properties.
Witch hazel: Used in both American and European traditional medicine to treat skin, mucous tissue, and capillary lesions. Its leaves are used internally as a tonic and astringent. Witch hazel bark and leaves are used to treat gastrointestinal disorders, to treat eye infections, and to soothe itching caused by insect bites. It is also known to work wonders against rosacea and congestion on the face.
