Description
Spotted milk thistle is a biennial herbaceous plant common in Southern Europe and North Africa. Now it is also widely cultivated. It has large glossy green leaves and purple tubular flowers surrounded by spiny bracts. Milk thistle was known to the ancient Greeks and Romans, who used it to treat liver and bile diseases.
