Description
Gypsophila paniculata (Gypsophila paniculata) is a cultivated ornamental flower native to Eastern Europe. There are more than fifty species of gypsophila in Europe, Asia and the Eastern Mediterranean. Commonly known as "baby's breath" or "white soap root," gypsophila has been used as soap in the Mediterranean basin for centuries. It is also used as a diuretic, as an antirheumatic agent and as an expectorant. This plant contains saponins and has a long history of use as a mild cleanser.
